Cap welding is used for projection spot welding of the caps / lids on electronic packages. The process of buttweld caps is rather easy – placing metal components in a package and seal. However, one should be aware and prevent moisture and oxygen entering the package during sealing. If one fails to do so, overtime, it will damage the sensitive electronic components stored.

This zero-moisture requirement is achieved by heating the package in an oven and then moving it into a glove box filled with nitrogen, removing moisture and oxygen.
